I love this little blurb, taken verbatim from the kgdb website:
"modifications to fault handlers - Kernel gives control to debugger when an unexpected fault fault occurs."
An unexpected fault fault? I guess that's much worse than an unexpected fault?
Looks like they need to debug their documentation a little bit.

What if the options are kdb, kgdb, or the KGB?

A friend/cow-orker went to CMU. I asked if he was ever in the KGB and he said "The Keep Geeks Busy club? They were a strange bunch... And no I wasn't one of them..."

Deanna Rubin. She was a rather prominent member of a BBS system in Philly that I used to frequent back in the day. Quite the "opinionated intellectual snob" type, but fun to argue with on occasion.

Small world.
Ain't it, though? It's funny how many of my old friends and acquaintences from the BBS scene I've run into here or there. Never really kept in touch with Dee after she went to CMU and I went to the State Penn. Moved away, eh? Not back to Philly, I presume?
Our instant message system (Zephyr, from MIT) is ripe with argument.
In stark contrast to the Empeg BBS! And what's CMU doing using MIT software? That's like the cable guy ordering DirecTV isn't it?

Heh yeah, but there is a fair amount of friendly competition between CMU and MIT...

The whole experience
The facilities that existed for leisure were thoroughly lame. It didn't help that the old student union building was failling apart.
Of course the new one isn't a student union. It's a university center, and the governance of such proves that it's not a student union.

i was at CMU for grad school in 1989-91. i haven't been back to see the new university center, but i don't recall having any free time to hang out in the student union, anyway.

Really. I've never heard of anyone judging a university on the quality of the university-provided entertainment before. Lack of local drinking establishments and nude nightclubs, yes, but student union, no.

which is why I've been taking their money for 8 years now.
I hope you're slacking off as much as possible. You wouldn't want to be providing value for that money, would you? That doesn't seem like a good way to get your own back.

Yeah, the university I went to didn't even have a student union in any real sense (there was a stationery shop, but that was basically it). Of course, the fatal flaw in that theory is that the rest of Cambridge didn't have any decent nightlife in those days either. What was I thinking?
